If Taco Bell can do it, we can too!
Over the summer, Isaac Walker ’15 was inspired by Taco Bell’s use of Snapchat for marketing. He decided it was something Grinnell needed, too.
“The reason I wanted to make the Snapchat was because a lot of the time people showed up to concerts really late, and that interferes with the running of the concert, because you can’t start if it’s empty–the band doesn’t have anyone to play for,” Walker said.
“Most of the pictures I feel we send come a few minutes before people start circling in. All the lights are down and the stage is kind of ready and empty, and we like taking pictures of that. It’s kind of like the stillness before the storm!” said Violeta Ruiz Espigares ’15, SGA Concerts Chair.
“And then plug in the soundboard and make sure everything’s working,” Walker added.
“We’re just trying to kind of do two things–show people a little bit of behind the scenes of the show and then give them updates so that they know to come because the show is starting and the band is coming on,” explained Walker.
The account, @gcconcerts, has over 40 followers. It’s easy to add and is a great resource on the weekend.
The Concerts Committee works to attract top quality up-and-coming artists. Grinnellians have seen Bruce Springsteen, Bon Iver, the Smashing Pumpkins, and more play live on-campus.
